DESCRIPTION

There is nothing at all average about this beautiful pendant! This piece of Native American jewelry is Hopi overlay hand crafted by artist George Phillips out of genuine sterling silver. Overlay is a process that utilizes at least two layers of sterling silver. One layer forms the foundation, while the second layer is used to design the individual detailed overlay. In this pendant, the second layer forms an outstanding Corn Stalk, Kokopelli, and Water Wave designs for a remarkable look. The corn is a powerful symbol in many tribes. It is used for prayer of fertility and a good growing season. The Kokopelli is a common fertility symbol throughout the Southwest. In Native American beliefs, the Kokopelli visits various communities, seducing and impregnating the young women drawn to the tones of his flute playing. The pendant is stamped sterling and hallmarked.
