DESCRIPTION:

If you are looking for elegance and beauty, you have found it! This piece of Native American jewelry is Zuni hand crafted by artist Effie Calavaza, out of genuine sterling silver, along with real Turquoise stones and Corals. The bracelet has a total of ELEVEN stones, SEVEN of which are delicately set in hand cut bezels in the midst of two magnificent silver snake designs, while the other FOUR are inlaid and create the snakes' eyes. Silver beads and imprinted designs can be seen accenting the snake designs for an amazing finish. The snake is found in many healing and fertility rituals. It is also connected with lightning, speed, and being able to move undetected. The bracelet is stamped Zuni and is hallmarked by the artist.

Turquoise is the birthstone of December. It is believed that turquoise tends to bring good fortune, strength and helps overcome illness. Turquoise got its name from the Levantine traders called Turks who brought the stone to Europe from Persia via Turkey centuries ago. Native Americans have prized turquoise since the time of the Aztecs, who mined it in New Mexico. The natural variations that occur in turquoise are part of their appeal and beauty.

Corals are known to be very soothing and very protective. Coral is of an organic origin; it is the skeletal remains of marine animals called Coral Polyps. Colonies of these tiny creatures build branching structures as they grow, gradually forming reefs and atolls.

Well-known artist Effie Calavaza is from the Zuni Tribe, which is located in New Mexico. Effie was taught by her husband Juan Calavaza and began silver work in 1956. She combined her husband's work and her designs to create some of the most beautiful and most distinctive Native American art! Her hand done work is among the best and most recognized jewelry in the southwest. Her jewelry is stamped with the family hallmark EFFIE C. ZUNI, which is used by Effie and her three daughters Georgiana Yatsattie, Gloria Jean Garcia, and Susie Calavaza. Effie's daughters assist her in the jewelry making (she shared her spouse's mark, JUAN C. ZUNI, until his death ca. 1970). To this day Effie's work is collected throughout the world and she continues making jewelry because she enjoys it!

    Beautiful pottery
Posted by Bernice M. | Reviewing SilverTribe.com | Posted on
I had previously gotten 2 horsehair cat statues thru Silvertribe and love them. The kittens and turtles were available this time and I just had to get them. Both arrived in 3 days to the east coast. Very well packaged and they are both beautiful. I also got a silver sun Navajo pendant which is just lovely. As always great delivery service from Silvertribe and really glad I can buy Navajo pieces.

    money clips
Posted by Leslie M. | Reviewing SilverTribe.com | Posted on
I order two money clips. The weight seemed to less then other ones I have ordered from them. They both were dirty with a black substance, which must have been used for polishing. I don't think I will be ordering from them in the near future.

    Sterling Craftsmanship
Posted by Nancy V. | Reviewing SilverTribe.com | Posted on
My last purchase from SILVERTRIBE was a pair of silver earrings. They are small, but as always the craftsmanship is exceptional. I've purchased many items from this site and have loved each of them. I really like the idea of them being handcrafted and I feel a kinship with the creator.
