Sterling silver and man made Pink Opal.
Post earrings measure approximately 3/4" long and 3/8" at widest point.
This wonderful pair of earrings is a work of art and has everything you could possibly want from a piece of Native American jewelry! This piece of Native American jewelry is Navajo hand crafted, by artist Angeline Platero, out of authentic sterling silver and man made Opal. A total of FOUR stones (TWO in each earring) are carefully placed in hand cut bezel settings, while being complimented with hand cut silver work that creates a detailed silver leaf design for a gorgeous look. The earrings are stamped .925 (sterling silver) and hallmarked.
Most people know Opal for its distinctive play of color, it is a semi-transparent solidified mineral composed of silicon and water, and it gets its name from the Latin word "Oplus" meaning precious stone. Opal is the birthstone for October. It is believed to release self-consciousness allowing spontaneous action, and awakens psychic and mystical qualities.
Sterling Silver is a metal, which consists of 92.5 percent silver and 7.5 percent copper. Although any metal can make up the 7.5% of non-silver component, years of study have shown that copper is most compatible, while aiding the solidity and durability of the metal without harming its beautiful color. The small amount of 7.5% copper added to all silver has almost no effect on the metals overall value. Due to the durability of sterling silver it is not only used for jewelry, but household accessories as well. Silver is known to last a lifetime with the proper care.
