This is a very gorgeous belt buckle that would make a great gift! This piece of Native American jewelry is Hopi overlay hand crafted by artist George Phillips out of genuine sterling silver. Overlay is a process that utilizes at least two layers of sterling silver. One layer forms the foundation, while the second is used to design the individual detailed overlay. In this belt buckle, the second layer forms an outstanding Bear, Bear Paw, and border pattern designs that gives the piece a remarkable look. In Native American beliefs, the bear symbolizes physical strength, leadership, and is known as the "first helper".  The bear paw is usually considered a way to call for the power of the animal spirit, or as an indication of the presence of the spirit. It is a symbol that represents inner strength. Belt buckle is stamped sterling and hallmarked.
