MATERIALS: Sterling silver and Pietersite. MEASUREMENTS: Pendant measures approximately 2" long (including bail) and 1" at widest point. DESCRIPTION: This lovely pendant will definitely attract plenty of attention! This piece of Native American jewelry is Navajo hand crafted by artist L. Begay out of genuine sterling silver and a real Pietersite stone. The pendant has ONE stone that is gently set in a hand cut bezel setting while hand cut work and silver beads can be seen accenting for a lovely finish. The pendant is stamped sterling and hallmarked by the artist. Pietersite is a variety of tiger-eye and has an incredible iridescent quality. It is different than the well-known Tiger-eye since its fibers appear muddled and not closely crammed. The pietersite formation is related to volcanic hydrothermal activities. In most rough stones, petrifaction is very complete and there are no free fibers. The mineral can be used to stimulate the pituitary gland to provide the proper regulation of the other endocrine glands, and to produce in the proper quantity, the hormones concerned with growth, sex, metabolism, blood pressure, and body temperature. Its a great aid in healing the eyes. Limited production in Namibia and the embargo on export of tigers-eye rough by South Africa have caused the price of Pietersite to rise dramatically.
